Who Was He?

He was born on this day in 1860.

From the time he was six, he never recovered from the shock of his brother’s death.

He studied at the University of Edinburgh and spent two years on the Nottingham Journal before becoming a freelance writer in 1885.

He penned one of the most beloved children’s stories ever written. It was first produced as a play in 1904.
