Test Pattern #72: Pursuit Of Happiness
It’s day #13 of the House Republican ’staycation’.
As House Republicans wonder how the Sierra Club can endorse a Democratic Energy Plan that no one has seen, the American people wonder when the Speaker of the House is going to ‘know her power’ and get her ass back to Washington. She acts like she has no clue what is happening anymore, and I am beginning to thing she needs to check herself into a drug treatment center or something.
We are running out of time. If she waits until September to come back, the Congress will have just 15 working days to complete all of their business (including this energy bill) before they adjourn for the rest of the year.
That’s right people. If they don’t pass an energy bill before the end of September, there will be no energy bill before the new year.
Call Speaker Pelosi’s office at (202) 225-0100 and tell her to call Congress back and get back to work, that is, if she isn’t in drug rehab yet.

Test Pattern #69: The American Energy Act
The American Energy Act will increase our supply of American made energy.
It will improve conservation and efficiency as well as promote new and expanding energy technologies.
All of this will help lower the price at the pump and reduce our costly dependence on foreign oil.
But Nancy Pelosi wants you to think it’s all about offshore drilling.

Test Pattern #63: Still Waiting
The momentum of the #dontgo movement is picking up steam. More and more everyday people are showing up to watch the proceedings in the House.
Today was day #4 of the Republican “staycation” and there is still no sign of Nancy Pelosi in Washington, DC. There is no sign that the Democratic leadership has any intention to work on a bipartisan energy plan. I sure hope Mrs. Pelosi’s book is worth it.
Come back to Washington now Madame Speaker. We’re still discussing energy, without you. What are you doing anyway? Working on your CDL training or something? Come on, get with the program and get back to work!

A Little Slice Of Heaven
This past weekend, we spent several hours trying to figure out what we are going to do with the area underneath our deck in the backyard. We have a deck coming off the main level, but as you walk out the door from the walk-out basement, all we have there now is an old makeshift doghouse that was there for Flash to use when it was windy or cold outside.
We would love to get a hot tub and put some nice pavers around it to make a nice relaxing area to kick back and enjoy ourselves. We even spent some time looking at some really cool spa accessories including scenes to put up on the wall behind the hot tub.
I can just imagine it now, kicking back after a long day at work to sit in our hot tub that overlooks the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, all from our backyard in Georgia. If that’s not heaven, I don’t know what is.
An Afternoon On The Rails
We took this video the other day,
It’s amazing what happens when the kids take the video camera. Sometimes it’s magical. Sometimes, it’s deadly.
Please be advised that no actual piggies were injured or killed during the filming of this video. In fact, they are all still wandering aimlessly along the tracks.
You’ll notice in the video, that we have some blankets and crib bedding hanging from the walls. You’d be amazed at how well it works to buffer some of the sound in the basement.

A Blogger In Need
While most of us were celebrating April Fool’s Day, someone else was dealing with one of the worst things someone should ever have to deal with. I don’t know Lisa, from Clusterfook, personally, but she is a friend of my sister’s and I found out what is going on with her through my sister’s blog.
Lisa has had her share of problems in the past, and as a two-time survivor of ovarian cancer she is a hero and role model to anyone who happens to know her. I can’t begin to imagine the feeling of finding out that you have cancer, let alone that you have it for the second time. Well, now she has to face another unimaginable reality. She has cancer for the third time, and this time it has spread.
In the comments of her post she mentioned that she would love to take her daughters to DisneyWorld, so a group of her friends has organized a raffle. If you donate any amount to help her fulfill her dream of taking her daughters to DisneyWorld, you could win one of 12 prizes, which are listed at Miss Ann Thrope’s site.
You can make a donation (and enter the raffle) at the link for Miss Ann Thrope’s site, or you can click this handy PayPal donation link and just get the easy part over with now.
There are many fun prizes, although there are no Chevy grilles on the list, the prize list includes a whole bunch of kewl stuff, but the biggest prize of all is knowing that you helped fulfill a mother’s wish to take a vacation to see Mickey and his friends, and spend some quality time with her daughters.
Don’t waste another minute. Make that donation for Lisa, pray for her and her family, then take a moment out of your day to thank God for the things you have in your life.

Watch Out For Exploding Angels
Just an update to my previous post below. Those “Grow An Angel” things…
They explode. Well, they don’t really explode, they just kind of puff up and break apart, in a sort of “underwater explosion”.
Yeah, not so cool to have to explain to your kids why their angels exploded. Of course, if the angels were taking the top diet pills on the market, they would not have ballooned up so high.

Have A Little Faith
I’ve heard of growing a lot of things, like plants, foam dinosaurs, even Chia Pets. Since when have we been allowed to grow our own angels? The only thing that grows in our neck of the woods is the signal on our phones when we use a cell phone repeater. Exciting huh?

The best part? The come in different colors too!

Now if they just watch over us (without being too creepy) things might be pretty cool around here. I think this may be just the thing for those with little faith.

Remember That Vacation Last Year?
Last year I talked a lot about going on vacation and the places I would like to take my family. Our choices, due to time constraints and monetary conditions, are always limited but I would love to take the kids to Branson. I didn’t get a chance to take them anywhere last year. I hope to change that this year.
As a huge country music fan, I am frustrated that I have never been able to take a trip to see some of the greatest performers in one of the best places in the country. I love people watching, so I could just sit somewhere and watch people, but I am sure the kids would love some of the shows like 50’s at the Hop and they would be entranced by Silver Dollar City. Who am I kidding, I wouldn’t want to leave Silver Dollar City.
From what I have read, Branson has a great number of resorts to choose from, including the Welk Resort, and my personal favorite (because of the name), the Settle Inn. I have been quite busy with work already this year, but I am hoping that come this summer, I will have enough put back that I can sneak away with the family for a week or so and enjoy all that Branson has to offer.
