Who Was He?
He was born on this day in 1860.
From the time he was six, he never recovered from the shock of his brother’s death.
He studied at the University of Edinburgh and spent two years on the Nottingham Journal before becoming a freelance writer in 1885.
He penned one of the most beloved children’s stories ever written. It was first produced as a play in 1904.
So, who was he?
If you guessed J. M. Barrie, then you would have been correct. For some reason I have always equated Peter Pan with sick children, and I always think of medical jewelry when I hear some of the songs in the movie. I wonder why that is?
You can find out more about J.M. Barrie at Encyclopedia Brittanica Online.
