He was born on this day in 1874. He died July 20, 1937.

His father was Italian, his mother was Irish. He was educated in Bologna and Florence, Italy.

He invented the first wireless telegraph in 1896. He received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1909.

He’s probably most famous for the development of shortwave wireless communication.
