On this day in 1973, “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia” hit number one. It was the only hit song from an awesome performer, Vicki Lawrence. Of course you know her as Thelma Harper from Mama’s Family.

What an amazing career she has had. She had an awesome voice that didn’t need the miracle of electronics to make it sound better. She is one of those people who can just sing.
