Climb Every Mountain

This past Thanksgiving, I thought about getting some platform shoes for my wife. She has a hard time reaching some of the higher items in the cupboard, and platform shoes might help.

Of course, anything is better than watching her stand on a rickety chair, trying to reach the one item I put up there. Maybe I should consider not putting things up so high in the kitchen in the first place?

What Are The Benefits?

I know a lot of people who like to use an unlocked phone so they are not locked into using any particular provider for their cellphone coverage.

I, on the other hand, am very happy with my T-Mobile Wing, and although I have not been in a contract with them for a very long time, I have no intention of switching now.

So, is it worth it? Does using an unlocked phone actually make that much of a difference? I really am curious to know the benefits of using such a phone.

Putting The Pieces Together

Back in the 1980’s I owned a white 1964 Mustang. I loved that car.

I loved working on that car too. When the starter died, I climbed into the engine compartment to change it. There was plenty of room to spare too. I spent most of my free time (and money) fixing the car, buying accessories for it, and making it “my own”.

These days you can find parts and accessories just about anywhere on the net. There are so many dealers it doesn’t matter if you are looking for Chrysler 300 accessories or parts for that vintage Mustang.

Now I wish I still had the car.

It’s Inevitable

It never fails. If I travel out of town on business, or a holiday (such as Thanksgiving) comes along, I inevitably gain 3-7 pounds. Then I spend the next few weeks working it off, so I don’t feel like a giant water balloon ready to burst.

No, I don’t try any special diets or diet pills, I simply watch what I eat, drink plenty of water, and make sure I exercise accordingly.

Sometimes I wonder if it’s all worth it, then I smell the dressing and gravy again and all hell breaks loose.

He’s Gunna Make It On His Own

I was talking to one of the guys I work with yesterday and he mentioned that the perfect business would be owning a corner market, like a 7-11 or a Wawa. He said, “if I owned one of those, I would have it made”.

Well, if he puts some thought into it, does his market research, and plans accordingly for the future, I don’t see why he wouldn’t “have it made”. Unless of course he picked the wrong location, then he would spend a lot more time thinking of different ways he should have tried to “make it”.

All I Want For Christmas

I finished a lot of Christmas shopping a couple months ago, but I always end up finding more stuff, and buying it, whether or not I already bought something for the person.

I want to give my wife something unique this year, and I am thinking of the mst romantic christmas gifts out there.

A weekend at a bed and breakfast would be cool, but so would a trip to the day spa. What do you think? What would you buy your significant other for Christmas?

Can You Pass Me That Wrench?

This week we spent some time redesigning our oldest son’s bedroom. I had to take the bed apart to get it out of the room so we could paint and I spent more time looking for my tools than it took to remove the bed.

This Christmas, I want some body shop supplies, you know, the real good stuff, so when I need a tool it’s easily within reach.

This way, I could work on my truck, my lawnmower, bedframes, you name it. How cool would that be?

The Good Ol’ Days

With technology as advanced as it is today, sometimes I take it all for granted. I pay all my bills online, which saves me the headache of remembering to buy stamps, or even put the bills in the mail.

I find myself missing the good ol’ days though, when I find out my account has been compromised because one of the companies I owe money to couldn’t secure their own systems.

WaMu has a free checking account that comes with free checks and other goodies, so I am seriously considering opening at least one new account to pay bills with. That way, if it gets hacked, there will be no money left for the hackers to get. Good idea, no?

This Day In History

On this day,

In 1907, Oklahoma became the 46th state.

In 1909, Burgess Meredith was born.

In 1958, six inches of snow fell on Tucson, Arizona, catching golfers by surprise.

In 1958, Marg Helgenberger was born.

In 1960, Clark Gable died.

In 1988, Benazir Bhutto was elected the leader of Pakistan (she is now under house arrest in Pakistan and a huge figure in the opposition to the current government there).

Speaking of golf, I’ve been checking out some Nike golf clubs, because I am thinking of taking up the sport before my brother-in-law comes to visit again.

You can find out more about this day in history at the History Channel, Those Were The Days, and InfoPlease .
