Daddy Long Legs

This creepy looking guy was hanging out on our front door for three days, until one of the kids picked it up by a leg and dropped it into the bushes out front. It looks pretty mean if you ask me, and I don’t think gund will be making any stuffed animals that resemble him that’s for sure.

Deficit Reduction In The Long Term

On February 8, 2006, President Bush signed the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 into law. Among many other things, the Deficit Reduction Act is designed to reduce the cost of medical health coverage through Medicaid by making the requirements to qualify for Medicaid in the first place, more strict. From the outside this may sound good to the average American, but from the inside I can guarantee the Deficit Reduction Act has affected over 50 million low-income, elderly and disabled people.

My sister-in-law, who I talk about frequently on my blogs, was born severely disabled, and just like everyone else, her Medicaid benefits have been cut. My father-in-law is retired, and my mother-in-law works as a pbx operator. They hardly make anything, and with the costs associated with taking care of my sister-in-law, they sometimes have a difficult time making ends meet. I know they are not alone. The Deficit Reduction Act has really impacted a lot of people, and unless they had some sort of long-term care insurance, I know they’re in the same boat as my in-laws.

National Health Administrators, through their long-term care insurance, can help offset the lack of coverage caused by the Deficit Reduction Act. Long-term care insurance can preserve your financial independence, pay for your own care, relieve your family of any burden in the future, and most importantly, it helps reduce your dependency on Medicaid.

National Health Administrators provides all of the information you need to find the solutions that are right for you. Why leave your medical care decisions in the hands of those trying to cut the services in the first place, when you can make an informed decision now that has a lasting impact on the quality of care you receive in the future?

Whether you’re in need of in-home care, assisted living, or you’re just interested in finding the long-term care insurance plan that’s right for you, National Health Administrators has all the answers you’re looking for. You can find out more about NHA at their website.

On A Wing And A Prayer

Check out the visitor we had on our trash can yesterday.

You can see another photo of the little critter over at Slobokan’s Site O’ Schtuff.

That Praying Mantis comes around every day at the same time. You’d think he was wearing a Lange Sohne watch or something, the way he keeps time. Funny coincidence I think though, that he shows up just before the yellowjackets visit the butterfly bush.

Butterfly Bush

Here is a photo of the flowers on one of our butterfly bushes.

It’s always relaxing to sit and watch the butterfly bush. Whether it’s the butterflies or the other little creatures that visit it, it’s always fun to watch. Well, until the yellowjackets come in and tear up the place like they are plasma cutting a new design on the bush. It’s amazing how the other insects vacate the premises when they show up.

Long Term Decisions

Isn’t it funny that, for the first quarter century of our lives we fulfill the role of children, only to have some of our own, and then later in life, possibly need to be taken care of by our own children?

For the first thirty years of my life I didn’t give much thought to issues in the future. I was too busy living life, having fun, establishing my career, hanging out with friends, etc, etc. Now, as I enter my mid-forties, real life has come up and slapped me upside the head.

In a few weeks my mother will be coming to live closer to us, and I suddenly find myself in a position where all I can concentrate on is the future. How will we handle this situation? What about that malady? What happens if…? Then I start thinking even farther into the future. What will my wife and I do when we get to the point that we need long-term care?

I think it’s important to consider the benefits of learning about long-term care services, and it is necessary to plan for it, just in case. Eventually we will need help bathing, eating, and just getting dressed in the morning, and who is going to provide that help?

Oh sure, we have three young boys who will grow up to become strapping young men, but I don’t think they need to be changing daddy’s diaper or helping mommy get out of the tub. One thing to consider is long-term care insurance.

National Health Administrators, based in Dallas, Texas, is a long-term care insurance agency that provides reliable information about assisted living, retaining independence, home care, and long-term care insurance to consumers.

Through their website you can find out which long-term care insurance plan is right for you, and more importantly fits your budget. The benefit of doing all the research now means you can prepare for your own future, control your own future, and rest assured that all your needs will be met, at a price you can afford.

Here in the Atlanta area, one day in a nursing home costs $151 per day, and home care workers make $17 per hour? Who knew that simply waking up in the morning, getting help to get out of bed, having someone help you dress, or eating breakfast could cost so much?

There is no telling when you might need long-term care, but National Health Administrators can help you prepare that day, long before it comes.

Andy Griffith Debuts On CBS

On this day, in 1960, the Andy Griffith show debuted on CBS.

Oh what I would give to have been a real estate agent in Mayberry. Think about it. Everyone got along, everyone loved living there, the crime levels were nearly non-existent, people were always sitting along main street shooting the breeze, and the smell of Aunt Bee’s homemade pies would permeate the air. Oh, yeah…
