Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

On this day in 1922, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang won the first Southsea Speed Carnival. In honor of that day, I thought I would find a CCBB clip on YouTube. Enjoy.

A Skinnier Me

I am now officially out of the 170’s. After 9 months of watching what I eat I am sitting at 169 pounds. I don’t want to look like some of those Hollywood stars that seem to be starving themselves to death, but it sure is nice to lose the flab. I cut out soda for the most part, added water, and more regular (smaller) meals.

Last month someone recommended that I try the hoodia patch. I only have 5 more pounds or so to reach my target weight, so I’m not sure I need it now.

Have any of you tried the hoodia patch? If so, did it work for you?

Good Daddies Are Hot!

When my wife was pregnant with our first son, she searched our local area stores for anything that would fit, and not look like it was made by Omar, the tent maker. You wouldn’t believe the lack maternity tops that looked normal.

Oh sure, she could have picked up a few nursing tops and other maternity clothing items, but they were all designed for the professional and were way to costly, in our opinion. She would have given anything to have a maternity tank top like the ones at Preggers N Proud.

While we won’t be having any more babies around here, I’ll definitely keep their site in mind when considering gifts for our friends. Preggers N Proud has a great slection of maternity tees and tanks and they even have some for daddy. How cool is that?

“In The Ghetto”, A Duet

On Friday I mentioned Lisa Marie Presley’s upcoming duet with her father. Well, here it is.

“In The Ghetto”, a duet by Elvis and Lisa Marie Presley.

Personally, I think the style used to make the video was awesome. No matter what you may think, the message delivered by the song is poignant.

Lisa Marie did an outstanding job with the vocals and somewhere, there is a very proud father looking down on her this evening.

Our Trip To The Market

I seem to recall having a lot more energy than I do tonight.

We went to the local farmer’s market early this morning, to see what great deals we could find, and because of the drought, there aren’t too many good deals to be had.

So we drove over to the State Farmer’s Market, which was a joke. Most of the companies there were hispanic named, no one seemed to be speaking English, and we found very few vendors that actually grew their produce IN our state.

We didn’t fill our Samsonite luggage with produce, but we did find a great deal on peaches and muscadines, so the trip wasn’t a total waste.

I remember farmer’s markets when actual farmers sold their crops. Do you have a farmers market in your area? If so, is it worth going to?

Where Were You?

I was 12 years old when Elvis died. Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of his death, and I have never felt older.

I have never been a die-hard Elvis fan, but I don’t turn off the radio if he comes on. I don’t remember what I was doing the day he died, but I’m sure it had something to do with escaping the hot August sun in Southern Nevada.

Today, Lisa Marie Presley is releasing a new recording of “In The Ghetto”. Thanks to the wonders of the digital revolution, she is performing it with her dad. It will be interesting to hear it, that’s for sure.

So, where were you when Elvis died, and what’s your favorite Elvis song?
