Have You Driven A VW Lately?
Many of you know I recently purchased a new truck, but we have also been thinking of purchasing a small second car for the wife. She needs something to make quick runs to the market, or to the fabric store, so we thought we would start looking. It may be a while until we can swing a second car payment, but that shouldn’t stop us from test driving them should it?
So far we have only test driven a few cars, but our favorite, by far, was the Volkswagen Eos. I have always had a soft spot for Volkswagens. In fact, several years ago I was finally able to buy my dream car, a 1969 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus. It was awesome, but then I had to sell it because we needed more funds when we moved into our new house. The Eos definitely doesn’t drive like the old Volkswagens, that’s for sure. With air conditioning, anti-lock brakes and power steering, it was a completely different experience than driving that old VW Bus.
The Eos we test drove was black, and had a convertible top. Needless to say, it was pretty fun cruising around Atlanta in a sporty looking for convertible. I loved the fact the convertible top was a hardtop, because when the top was up you really couldn’t tell it was a convertible. I really liked everything about that car. The power seats with lumbar support were to die for. How does anyone live without that these days?
The Eos handled very well, and we were quite impressed with the look and feel of it on the road. It had a 3.2L V6 engine, with automatic transmission (another thing my bus didn’t have) which made getting through traffic quite simple. Although we won’t be able to get a second car for a while, we are definitely going to consider a Used VW when the time comes.
